Build channel inputs, gain structure, EQ, compression, and effects chains during line check and sound check

Coordinate with the monitor engineer on shared inputs (typically wedges + IEMs)

Run virtual sound check with the band's tracks where available

From the booking dashboard

The people
who already book here.

I posted a last-minute foh engineer call for a Flatiron District corporate dinner at 10pm and had three vetted applicants by midnight. The one I picked checked in at the dock on time, knew the venue cold, and the bill was exactly what the dashboard said it would be. That doesn't happen with phone-tree agencies.

We run two shows a week in this neighborhood and the same foh engineer keeps applying. After three repeat bookings he hit ELITE and now he's our first choice. Saves me an hour of vetting per gig.

Frequently asked

Questions about hiring
a foh engineer in Flatiron District.

How much does a FOH audio engineer cost in Flatiron District?+

Standard NYC day rates run $650–$850. Heavy shows (festival, broadcast, multi-band) push to $1,000–$1,400. Flatiron District-based work without travel surcharge falls at the lower end of that range. BookACrew pre-auths the agreed rate at booking — you only pay for verified hours.

Do they bring their own console?+

Typically no — the venue or rental house provides the console. The FOH engineer brings their personal Waves license, IEM, headphones, USB stick with show files, and a small toolkit (cables, RF analyzer, multitool). Custom plugin chains and snapshots live on their license, not in the venue.

Can I book the same engineer for a multi-night run in Flatiron District?+

Yes. Post the gig with all dates listed and the engineer's hours roll up across nights. The pre-auth covers the full run; capture happens after each night's verified checkout. Repeat-booking the same engineer is encouraged — they build show muscle memory and snapshots transfer night to night.

What if the engineer no-shows?+

Geofence check-in is mandatory — every booked engineer must GPS check in within a 500ft radius of the venue at call time. If the booked engineer no-shows, you cancel the booking and repost the gig, and because BookACrew only captures against your pre-authorization for verified hours actually worked, nothing is charged for the no-show. You're never billed for crew who didn't show up.

Do FOH engineers handle monitor mixes too?+

For small shows (under 6 channels of monitors), yes — many FOH engineers handle 'monitors from FOH' from the same console. For festival, corporate keynote, or any show with 8+ mixes, you'll want a dedicated monitor engineer. BookACrew can bundle both on the same gig post — the system splits the pre-auth automatically.
